On October 9, 2016 Rev. Scott Sundbye was installed to serve as minister for First Lutheran Church in Texarkana, Texas. Rev. Sundbye and his family moved from Gainesville, Texas, where he served Faith Lutheran Church for nineteen years.
Scott was born in Dallas, Texas and raised in the City of Garland where he graduated from North Garland High School in 1981. In 1986 he graduated from the University of North Texas with a B.B.A. and worked as a commercial real estate appraiser. In 1995 Scott graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana with a Master of Divinity. H received his first call to serve as Assistant Pastor of Our Savior Lutheran Church in McKinney, Texas.
While in McKinney Scott met Lisa Carman and were married May 25, 1996. They now have three children, Blake, Dane, and Jacob. In his spare time Scott enjoys watching his daughter, Dane, play volleyball, basketball and cheer. He is also active with his son, Blake, in Boy Scouts and Tae Kwon Do. His oldest son, Jake, is studying to be an EMT/Paramedic while volunteering as a firefighter for the Indian Creek Volunteer Fire Department. His wife Lisa works as a Dental Hygienist. Lisa graduated from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas in 2000.
