In 2017 our mission trip took us to Wetumpka, Alabama. Our youth worked with two church youth groups from Tennessee over the previous week. New relationships were made and some great service work was accomplished. All the youth were divided into three different groups which served at different work sites in the community. The groups worked in the homes of two elderly couples with disabilities, as well as, a food pantry, nursing home and a community youth child care program directed by the local police department. The group also had the opportunity to visit Panama City Beach on the way home; a first time opportunity for some on the trip. The youth worked and traveled together very well and developed stronger relationships with each other and with their Savior. The congregation can be proud of how our church was represented and give thanks for the opportunity that our Lord provided.
Sunday morning, July 8, the Middle School group is leaving for Bayou La Batre, Alabama to be part of a mission trip through Youthworks. We will be joining over 50 other youth and adults for the week. Our youth will serve through painting, cleaning, yard work or other simple work projects. They will also help plan and lead kids programming for children in the community, including Bible lessons, games, crafts and reading. Friday morning, July 13 we will begin the journey home with a stop at the beach for the day. Friday evening, we will be spending the night at St. Matthew Lutheran in Gulfport, Mississippi and leaving Saturday morning, July 14 to head to Texarkana arriving early evening.
Youth going on the trip are: Kiki Cox, Nicole Plattner, Thomas Gardner, Matthew Thigpin, Blake Sundbye & James Stout. Adults going are Courtney Bower and Pastor Sundbye.
Please keep the group in your prayers.
